How do you preserve edible art? It’s difficult. After all, Urs also hears people say time and time again that it’s a real shame to just eat his beautiful pasta. So he came up with the idea of preserving it and moulding it in synthetic resin. It took nearly two years to get from the initial idea to the finished product, time which had to be used for research and development of the manufacturing process. However, it was worth it. The pasta moulded in this way differs only slightly from the edible version and could also be eaten without any problems. And most importantly: Urs himself is totally crazy about his moulded pasta artworks. His passion is clear to see.

16 brick wall ravioli and a pasta flower peeking trough a hole in the brick wall.
It might seem natural to choose the flower breaking through the wall as the title. Yet that would suggest conflict. Maybe it’s better if we move toward one another instead. Then, even a wall might learn to smile.
4 Ravoioli casted in synthetic resin. The ravioli are made with 26 different colors, so it’s a very smooth color gradient. 26 colors means also 26 different pasta doughs.
4 ravioli, casted in synthetic resin. To calculate the length of the diagonal line, I often need Pythagoras’ formula (a² + b² = c²). I think Pythagoras’ garden might have looked something like this.
Plate with 15 differnet farfalle. All of them are in rainbow colors. Some are in the base colors of the rainbow, others do have much more color shades. It is my most elaborate work so far.
This raviolo has a rainbow pattern built with about 300 very small squars which are surrounded by two filigree ornaments also in rainbow colors. The raviolo is casted in a block of synthetic resin.
